XBURO is proud to have played a key role in the successful delivery of project engineering and management services for Seqwater's East Bank Flood Resilience Program (EBFRP) - a vital initiative aimed at strengthening the reliability and resilience of some of South East Queensland’s vital water supply assets.
A major component of the project was to repurpose the heritage-listed Mount Crosby Weir Bridge, originally built in 1927, for community benefit
The bridge, which once supported tram lines supplying coal to the pump station, has now been repurposed as a pedestrian path.
This transformation included the installation of a new composite fibre technology (CFT) balustrade system with an operable mechanism, allowing it to lay flat during flood events - minimising damage from debris and maintaining structural integrity.
As part of the works, the existing bitumen deck was carefully profiled and resurfaced without disturbing the historic tram tracks, preserving the bridge’s heritage value while improving its functionality.
Additional improvements were also carried out around the bridge precinct to support long-term operational needs.
XBURO congratulates Seqwater and all delivery partners involved in making this important work a reality.
